On April 23rd, 2014 Wrigley Field turns 100 years old, and that means the Cubs are up for a season long Celebration. As the second oldest major league ball park beginning in 1914 as a , this field has seen many glorious days (and plays!). The theme of this Cubs season is “Party of the Century”, and you bet the Cubs have big plans. The Season Opener on April 4th marked the beginning of the festivities, and we got to experience the first pitch! This season-long party will feature many special aspects, and at ten of the home games, the Cubs will pay tribute to 100 greatest moments and different elements from each of the ten decades at Wrigley Field.
Each of the home games will have a unique theme complete with throwback uniforms, retro ballpark decor, commemorative baseballs, throwback food and special guests. The food will consist of classic tasty dogs such as the 1910 Reuben Dog and, of course, the 1920’s Chicago Dog. I don’t know about you, but our mouths are already watering! Kids will specifically enjoy the Sunday afternoon home games because at the end of it all, they get to run the bases. Don’t forget to stop by their store for retro bobble heads and more fun retro toys. Though we may not be the best team in the league, we all secretly love getting out there to the ballpark and supporting our Cubs team, and this season is going to be extra fun. With all the excitement, nostalgia and (we hope!) extra enthusiasm from all of you fans, this season could be the best season yet. Go Cubs!
