After a long cold winter here in Chicago, we can finally enjoy the warm weather that we vie for all year long! With the rising temperatures, these hot summer days are screaming for something sweet and something refreshing. Luckily for us, Chicago foodie scene is always a step ahead of the curve and has prepared us for the ultimate blend between our sweet tooth craving and our necessary rooftop happy hour evenings. Enter: National Ice Cream Month, more formally known as the month of July (we have President Ronald Raegan to thank for that). We’ve provided you with a guide for some hot places to grab a boozy shake this summer:
25 Degrees– The options here are plentiful and all amazing. With flavors like Bananas Foster, Salty Caramel and Irish Car Bomb, you’re sure to have a hard time choosing.
RJ Grunts– A classic Chicago restaurant. The boozy shakes aren’t on the menu, but if you ask, you can put alcohol in any of your favorite creamy drinks.
Tortoise Club– This place provides one “Adult Shake”, and it’s currently called The Hummer. Made with Espresso Liquor, Rum and Vanilla ice cream, this simple sweet treat is sure to make your spirits rise.
DMK Burger– Here, the option is yours. You can add whatever type of alcohol you want to any of their already amazing shakes. Need we say more?
Green Door Tavern– Available on the chef’s five course tasting menu, the last dish served is a “boozed up ice cream float” with a fried Nutella sandwich and Dark Matter coffee. Perfection.
Talk about some tasty options in store for this (hopefully) hot weather. We’ll use any celebratory excuse to get our hands on one of these crafty concoctions. Hey, its National Ice Cream Month, let’s celebrate!
