Plan your Chicago Vacation

Finding things to do in Chicago with kids is not a difficult task. The city is not short on family-friendly activities and fun. Whether you are looking forward to exploring local museums or trying deep-dish pizza, Chicago has much more to offer than meets the eye. Here are a few plans you should add to your family’s itinerary:

1. Take a stroll through Millennium Park.
One of the best free attractions in Chicago is Millennium Park. In the summer, it’s a great place to splash around in the fountain – which the kids will love.  There are also great events that happen throughout the year including live music and arts and crafts.

2. A plethora of museums await you.
There are so many family-friendly museums in Chicago. These include the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. The Field Museum and Museum of Space and Industry are both excellent for science lovers!

3. Check out the talent at Art Institute of Chicago.
While technically a museum, this gallery gets its own category. It is just perfect for the art aficionado in all of us. Here, you will see Impressionist works, miniatures and interactive exhibits.

4. Visit the Navy Pier.
The pier includes a number of fun rides, including a Ferris wheel, carousel and theater. There are countless things to do with kids at Chicago’s Navy Pier, including experiencing the Chicago Children’s Museum.  This is a wonderful museum for families because it offers so many interactive exhibits. It is perfectly suited for toddlers and preschoolers who love to explore.  Depart from Navy Pier and take a cruise to explore Chicago on the river.  You will see amazing things onboard one of Chicago’s First Lady Cruises, Mercury Cruises or Chicago Line Cruises.

5. Take a Culinary Tour.
Chicago culinary tours are widely popular and the options are virtually endless!  Whether you want to experience Chicago’s finest dining establishments, taste local favorites or enjoy the best pizza in Chicago, there is a culinary tour to meet your needs!

6. Visit Lincoln Park Zoo.
The Lincoln Park Zoo is a must when planning a Chicago family vacation.  This free zoo offers daily activities for kids, events that occur year-round and of course, many wonderful animals to see.  There are also attractions to experience including the AT&T Endangered Species Carousel and the LPZoo Children’s Train Ride.

7. Shop on Michigan Avenue.
Michigan Avenue offers exceptional shopping options and is affectionately known as The Magnificent Mile. From upscale shopping outlets to exclusive designers to fine jewelers, Michigan Avenue is a shopper’s dream.

8. Enjoy the beach!
You will have a great time wading in the lakefront beaches on Lake Michigan. North Avenue Beach is one of Chicago’s most popular beaches and features a unique beach house with fantastic views of the city. Some of the fun things to do with kids at North Avenue Beach include renting bikes, dining at Castaways Bar and Grill, and doing a little shopping at the various retail vendors.  They even have an open-air sports facility offering roller hockey, dodgeball and more.

9. Enjoy some deep dish pizza.
You can’t visit Chicago without sampling a true Chicago deep-dish pizza – and there are so many delicious options! The most popular pizza hotspots for the best deep-dish include Lou Malnati’s, Gino’s East and Giordano’s.

10. See Chicago From Above
Skydeck Chicago is one of the famous sites and things to do in Chicago.  Experience incredible views of the city in every direction as you stand more than 1,000 feet off the ground in a glass viewing platform called The Ledge.

360 Chicago, also known as the John Hancock Observatory, offers one of the few places you can see four states all at once.  You will find this 1,000-foot tower on The Magnificent Mile.

Now that you know how you are going to spend your time in Chicago, you need to know where you’re going to stay. The Raffaello Hotel Chicago is one of the most luxurious boutique hotels in the city, centrally located Downtown. With so many things to do in Chicago with kids, you want accommodations that are located right in the heart of it all.
